Traditionally Styled Flutes

In addition to our horn flutes, we also offer wood flutes made in the traditional Native American style.  They have a 1 inch bore and are available in keys ranging from F to Bb.  The nest plate is made of brass for a clear bright tone.  These are custom built instruments, so we will work with you on the combinations of wood and other features you desire.  Prices vary, so please contact us for details.

Other Custom Built Instruments

With over two decades of building world instruments, we can work with you to build custom items for your collection…everything from African lyres to didgeridoos.  Custom made display racks crafted from wood or antler are also available.  Please get in touch, and we’ll work out the details.  Here are a couple of examples of our custom work.

Kokopelli’s Ax

This is the perfect instrument for accompanying a Native American flute. It is similar to a dulcimer, held like a guitar, and has a fret spacing that matches the scale the flutes play.  Comes with padded “gig bag” carrying case and instructions.

Bamboo Drone Flute

 This is a drone flute modeled after the nedunkuzhal, a shepherd’s flute from India. It is tuned to the same Native American scale used in our other flutes.  The air is directed from a single “slow air chamber” to two other chambers in the flute.  The lower one has finger holes and plays the melody.  The upper half of the instrument plays a drone note. Fleece carrying bag included.
